TEXT: ROMANS 2:16 ”In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel”.
Eccl 12:14 ”For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil”.
1 Peter 4:17 ”For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begins at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”
Many things are happening under the sun, which is hidden in the eyes of men. To some youths, they are smart, fast and nobody sees them, or nobody knows what they are doing, unknown to them that nothing is covered in God’s eyes(Hebrews 4:13). Amos 4:12 ”And thus will I do unto thee O Israel, and because I will do these unto thee, prepare to meet thy God O Israel”. (Romans 2:16).Let us fear God and do away with secret evil lifestyle to avoid crying at last. (Matt. 7:21-23, Proverbs 3:7).
For better understanding of this message, we shall consider the following sub-headings.
POINT 1: I KNOW THY WORKS. Revelations 3:1-2 ”And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God” HEBREW 4:13 “ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do”. God knows our works, He knows that you are a leader, worker and member that comes to church every day and yet you commit secret sins. God is saying he has not found your works perfect before him as a leader, worker and member. Revelation 3:1b ”I KNOW THY WORKS.” There are some youths who were once born again, zealous and committed to God’s work but fell into sin and covered it up, some backslided and put the blame on their leaders, department or the church. They fell into sin for a long time looking for something to back themselves up. They have committed sacrilege and still pretend to be zealous. Some fell into abominations and covered it up and are still preaching, praying and singing with their secret sins. They come to church without confessing and forsaking them. (Prov. 28:13). I KNOW THY WORKS SAITH HE THAT HAS THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD. We should know that God is not a man, He that created eyes sees.
Some of these secret sins are fornication, watching of nude pictures through the Internet or films, some steal their parents’ money and steal their master’s money, some lust, have unforgiving heart (mark 11:25-26).They keep boy /girlfriends, some love worldly music, (1 John 2:15-17) some masturbate, commit homosexuality, lesbianism, some do visit prostitutes, some smoke and put ‘tom-tom’ in their mouth to cover it up, some sisters use relaxers on their hair, put attachments and cover it up, some still keep worldly pictures they took with their sin partners or with bottle of alcohol in their hands, some keep their earrings, chains, weavons in their boxes.( James 4:4) some divert from coming to vigil and end up in their boy or girl friends’ houses, nightclubs etc. All these and many more they do, thinking nobody sees them but the truth is they are deceiving themselves. (James 1:22) God will judge their secret sins. (eccl 11:9, 12:13-14). Such youths should know that God is everywhere beholding the good and evil we are doing. Jeremiah 23:23-24 ”Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off? Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord.” “Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord”. (Psalm 139:7-12). As many youth that are committing secret sin are playing with their souls.
THE REMEDY AND OUR RESPONSE
The remedy is repentance from our heart just like King David did (psalm 19:12-13, 51:1-12). This message is a serious warning to youths who take delight in committing sin secretly and refuse to repent, and also that pretends to be following and walking so sanctimonious but are not following. Our respond is to act quickly without further delay by seeking Him with all our heart, with serious crying and weeping asking for forgiveness (Habakkuk 3:1-3, JEREMIAH 29:13). Do it now, while it is day. Repent now, when Mr. Death has not come nor the rapture of the saints taken place. Give your life to Jesus Christ. (Romans 13:11-14).
